Congratulations, You Played Yourself

1 Peter 5:7 New Living Translation (NLT)

7 Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.

We have all been in a situation where we have asked the question "WHERE IS GOD?!" There have been many times that I have lost my faith. I took my eyes off of God, because I felt as though He wasn't really by my side. I started to operate in my own will, and not the will of God.

If you think for one second, that you can go through life without God's direction, you are already in the first phase of PLAYING YOURSELF. As millennials, we are very innovative! Millennials are believed to be the most purpose driven than previous generations. We are creating new business ideas and developments every single day! However, we must be reminded of where our source comes from...GOD.

I can admit that sometimes, it is easy to get besides ourself. When our business ideas are taking off, we sometimes get to a place of self-sufficiency, and we forget the author and creator of our ideas, and of our success.

Self-sufficiency is dangerous. We need to move away from the idea of self-sufficiency and embrace the concept of whole-hearted dependency on God.

In every decision that I make, I consult with God first for clarity and guidance. Please note, that when I say everything..... I mean everything. Whether it pertains to dating, my finances, steps in my career, and most important my journey as an author as I try to guide my readers. I never want to get to a place where I am operating outside of God's plans for me. God has the power to give, but he also has the power to take away. At the end of the day, we need God for EVERYTHING.

The ideas and visions that you have for yourself means nothing if God is not involved in the process.

In Matthew 14:22-34, we learn of the story of Jesus walking on water. The disciples were in the middle of a terrible storm, and they saw what appeared to be a "ghost" walking towards them. Little did they know, it was Jesus. Peter asked Jesus that if it be him, allow him to walk on water to meet him. Peter stepped out into the sea, and began to walk on the water towards Jesus. However, Peter made a huge mistake. He took his eyes off Jesus and began to sink.

Peter played himself.

Many of us are like Peter. We look away from God, and then that's when things hit the fan. We ask the question again "Where is God"? Today I am glad to say that God is ALWAYS with you, even when you feel like he isn't. My Dad, Pastor George Knight, made a good point in a sermon a few weeks ago as to why we may feel that God isn't with us....

While you are focusing on obstacles, God is focusing on opportunities.

Don't always focus on WHAT you are going through. Focus on what God is trying to teach you through these storms. Focus on who He is trying to create you to be.

Today, I want to encourage you to place every single aspect of your life into the hands of God. Do not go another minute thinking or believing that you can make it without him; BECAUSE YOU CAN'T!
